10 Ways To Embrace Today

1. Embrace the pile of laundry by the door. It means you have people to love and people who love you back. And all of you need clean clothes.
2. Embrace that load of dishes waiting for you to put away. Be grateful for the dinner conversations your family had while those dishes were getting dirty.
3. Embrace the time you have by yourself today. Use it to remember why you love having your spouse at home with you and remind yourself again the next time he gets on your nerves.
4. Embrace today's lighter (or empty) checking account. Remind yourself of what you do have. Make a list if you need to and refer to it often.
5. Embrace the friend who called and interrupted you from what you were doing. Be thankful for the reminder that you're not alone. And for caller id.
6. Embrace today's problem's and challenges. Remember that there are others in the world who may have fewer, but much more severe, problems like finding food to feed their children today.
7. Embrace the time you spend packing another care package for your deployed service member. Whether he shows his thanks or not, the piece of home you send is a reminder he has someone who cares about him. Not every service member is able to say that.
8. Embrace your marriage. Whether your spouse is here or not, reflect on ways you can let him know what he means to you.
9. Embrace your dreams. If you find yourself constantly putting them off, maybe it's time to consider how you can get one step closer to a dream becoming a reality.
10. Embrace the roller coaster of Military life. The planned-for exercises, the unexpected TDY, the multiple deployments and the uncertainties of what will happen next. Be grateful that life is never boring.

Embrace the adventure that is today. There won't be another like it.

This list was given to me by my friend last week when we went visiting teaching and I have been thinking about it for the last couple of days. I was sick for a few days at the beginning of the week and yesterday had a little energy so I started laundry and cleaning the kitchen. The kids try to keep up with their chores but things just seem to fall apart so quickly. I was glad to have some energy back but a little depressed at the state of things in the house. I saw my list on the fridge and started thinking of it and it stayed with me all day yesterday and again today. I thought it was a great new way to be thankful for our trials. I usually think of being grateful for our trials in the context of big difficult trials not everyday things like laundry. Who ever thought to be grateful for that?? So now I have a new outlook and it has really helped me while spending the last two days scrubbing my stove(for which I am truly grateful). One of the kids had spilled something while cooking and it was really burned on there. So, while scrubbing, I got to thinking that I am grateful that my kids know how to cook and they like to cook. They have helped me out many times! I am also extremely grateful for Mr. Clean Magic Eraser!! Those are magic!

So I thought I would record my AHA moment so I can remember it and share it with any of you who may be able to relate.

I have no idea why the font changed in the middle of this but there it is!

Nik's Favorite Scripture

Remember, remember that it is upon the rock of our Redeemer, who is Christ, the Son of God, that ye must build your foundation; that when the devil shall send forth his mighty winds, yea, his shafts in the whirlwind, yea, when all his hail and his mighty storm shall beat upon you, it shall have no power over you to drag you down to the gulf of misery and endless wo, because of the rock upon which ye are built, which is a sure foundation, a foundation whereon if men build they cannot fall.
Helaman 5:12

Phil's Favorite Scripture

Yea, verily, verily I say unto you, if all men had been, and were, and ever would be, like unto Moroni, behold, the very powers of hell would have been shaken forever; yea, the devil would never have power over the hearts of the children of men.
