Thunderpants and True Love

I walked into the little girls' room this morning and they are arguing so....
Me: What's the problem?
Rissa: (sadly)Abby says these are not "funderpants"!
Me: Those are thunderpants??
Abby: (snotty) Yeah she thinks those are thunderpants!
Me: Why are these thunderpants? (they have a camouflage print)
Abby: She thinks those things look like thunder!
Rissa: Yeah!
Me: Abby, she can say these are thunderpants if she wants to. Get yourself ready for school!

A couple of weeks ago I picked Abby up from swimming lessons. My friends Rick and Kacie Sanders had taken her because I had to be at the church for something else. This is what she said on the way home.

Abby: Mom do you remember when brother Sanders was my super Santa and he brought me cookies and left them on the door?
Me: Yes, I remember when the Sanders family did the twelve days of Christmas for us.
Abby: Mom, how can it be possible, just how can it be possible?
Me: How can what be possible?
Abby: How can it be possible for a 1st grader to be in love with a man?
Me: (alarmed and surprised) What??
Abby: How can it be possible for me to be in love with a man? Just how can it be possible?
Me: (Trying not to laugh) First of all it isn't possible unless you're in love with your dad!
Abby: Oh no, I'm in love with Brother Sanders!
Me: Really? I don't know about that!
Abby: Oh yes! I'm in love with Brother Sanders!
SCARY CHILD!!

Funny Things Kids Say and Do

8-11-09
I found the little girls making a mess in the bathroom with water and toys etc. when they were supposed to be in bed.
Mom: (exasperated) What am I going to do with you two?
Abigail: (without a moments hesitation) I don't know, give us away?
Mom: (surprised) What makes you say that?
Abigail: Cause you're a mean mom!
Mom: (Trying not to laugh) Get back in your beds!

Mom: I think it's almost time to go upstairs and lay down hunny-buns.
Clarissa: I not a hunny-buns.
Mom: Oh, You're not?
Clarissa: No
Mom: Ok, well...What are you?
Clarissa: I not a hunny-buns....I just a hunny-bun.
LOL!! I can already see she has my knack for grammer!

First thing Clarissa said when she woke up this morning and got out of bed.

Clarissa: Mom Jerika's getting me! (whiny voice)

Me: Jerika, what are you doing to Clarissa?

Jerika shows me her arms held out and her fingers wiggling toward Clarissa.

Me: Jerika is just playing with you honey.

Clarissa: Well....I'm....not....a.....toy.

We were in town for a while with my sister and brother-in-law the other day. We came home and the house smelled a little foul (nothing too unusual but a pet peeve of mine). Lots of kids in the living room (some of mine and my sister's) This is the conversation.

Me: What is that smell?

Random kids: It was Wyatt! Wyatt stunk up the bathroom!

Dana (my brother-in-law): You should have done a courtesy flush. (presumably to get rid of the smell??)

Abigail: (trying to clear things up for us)

NO! A Wyattsy flush! It was Wyatt NOT Curtis!
