Wyatt lost a tooth a few days ago! Um, ok, big deal right? He is our third child and he is 9 years old. So being the good parents that we are we reached down deep and found some enthusiasm for this great event! Even better we forgot to memo the tooth fairy about this and she did not come on the first night. No need to panic this has happened before and we have just told the kids that she must have had too many houses to get to or she couldn't get to it because their room was WAY too dirty...etc. You get the picture. Anyway she would eventually get to it and get the job done.
This time was a little different. This morning, after 3 nights of the tooth fairy not coming (forgetting). Wyatt approaches me first thing in the morning very angrily. I was in Jerika's room with her and he stormed in telling me that Jerika STOLE his tooth and left a dollar and some skittles and a note!
WHAT?!
First, I have the immediate reaction, Darnit, she forgot again! Then I am shocked and amazed because I realize she really did come! And she has never brought candy before! Wow!
Wyatt is standing in front of me with all the loot in his hand and very upset because he believes he knows his sister's handwriting, and she did have some skittles in her room this week, and he goes on with all his "proof" that it had to have been Jerika and he is demanding his tooth back so the "real" tooth fairy can come. I am trying to keep a straight face and keep sneaking glances at Jerika who is avoiding my looks. I was at a loss for words so I said to Jerika, trying to be stern, "Did you steal Wyatt's tooth?" She laughs and says, "No, why would I do that?" There you go Wyatt! Why would Jerika want a nasty old tooth?
Why indeed!!?
But it warms my heart every time I think of it! How lucky am I?? They never cease to amaze or surprise me!

ReplyDeletehaha how funny... =D honestly i wouldnt know what to do if i got cought lol but seems like you guys handled it pretty well..i remember last summer i lost my tooth at aunt LaBretta and Uncle Ryan's and everyone kept telling me put it under your pillow so the tooth fairy will come but that night i was just up late laying in bed and i heard them coming so i pretended to be asleep and Aunt LaBretta traded the tooth for some change lol idk if jerika was awake also but ??? so is curtis practicing extra hard for his preformance??
ReplyDeleteOkay, that is the coolest story ever. I am so touched! We need a Jerika here at my house, since the tooth fairy sometimes takes up to a week to come around here. :)
